CM’s Sectt orders Vigilance probe into land encroachment

JAMMU, Sept 19: The Chief Minister’s Secretariat has referred a complaint against Police and Revenue Department officials to the Commissioner of Vigilance for an expeditious inquiry.
The complaint pertained to involvement of Police and Revenue Department officers/ officials in land grabbing and lodging defamatory FIR against Shashi Thakur, DySP, presently posted in 4th Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP), Security.
The Chief Minister’s Secretariat has asked the Commissioner of Vigilance to have the issue enquired into expeditiously under law for appropriate action.
It has sought intimation of the action taken by the Commissioner of Vigilance.
The complaint pertained to alleged encroachment of land in Trikuta Nagar extension by some persons.
In a separate representation, some residents of Sainik Colony have written to the SHO Channi Himmat seeking police protection in the same case of land encroachment. They said they were being harassed by the alleged land encroachers for filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the case.
“We are in mental stress as two persons with criminal background are threatening us,’’ they said.
