JAMMU, July 22: Chatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) – a student body of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) demanded for probe and immediate action against Jammu University administration and police personnel involved in manhandling with students on roads creating a scene of high-handedness.
It was raised during the press conference by the office bearers of CYSS including Mahesh Bakshi and said that the scene witnessed outside Jammu University is not acceptable and the Government should order a probe in the matter.
” We honour and respect the entire J&K police as police personnel put their lives at stake to safeguard masses especially on the counterinsurgency front but incidents like this are never expected and create a bad impression of police in society.” they said.
The CYSS leaders further stated that the way students were manhandled, choked by cops shows high-handedness of cops in the situation besides violation of norms as female students on protest were treated by male cops with no female cops were called in to deal with female students.
The CYSS leaders further questioned the approach of Jammu University administration and especially the Vice Chancellor who is acting as mute spectator in the entire scene and his students being thrashed on roads.
The speakers further demanded immediate transfer and action against the Police Officer, who is Police Post Incharge Nehru Market, for his act and inquiry into the conduct of cops on duty besides an inquiry into the approach of JU administration whose failure to deal with the situation, forced the students to hit the roads.
