GGHSS Surankote students protest over shortage of staff

POONCH, July 22: The student of Model Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Surankote held protest and blocked road for some time in protest against shortage of staff in the school.
The students of this Govt Higher Secondary School today boycotted their classes and came out on the road and staged dharna. They were shouting slogans against LG’s Administration, Chief Secretary and School Education authorities of J&K UT.
The protesting student told media-persons at the site that their syllabus was incomplete and there was no sufficient staff to complete the syllabus and teach them. They alleged that only 50 percent staff was in the school and the strength of this school was high.
They further stated that most of posts of Masters and Lecturers were lying vacant in the school. The matter was taken up with the concerned CEO and even the District and Sub Divisional Administration by their parents and public representatives but no body took the cognizance of the issue. Their study was badly affected with the non-availability of teaching staff in the school.
Later, SDM Surankote, Naiem- Ul- Nissa Bhatti reached the spot and assured the student that matter has already been conveyed to the concerned and they have assured that staff will be provided in the school shortly.
Suhail Malik, DDC Member who also arrived there appealed to the Director School Education and Principal Secretary School Education Department to provide staff in the school so that students do not suffer. The traffic movement remained hit for about two hours in Surankote town due to protest dharna of the students.
