CBSE declares 12th, 10th results

NEW DELHI, July 22:
Girls outshone boys in class 12 CBSE exam even as the overall pass percentage dipped from last year’s 99.37 per cent to 92.71 per cent, officials said today.
While last year the result was declared on basis of a special assessment scheme as exams could not be conducted due to the pandemic, this year the exams were conducted in two terms.

The pass percentage in 2020 was 88.78 per cent while in 2019, it was 83.40 per cent, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said.
The board did not announce a merit list this year as well. It discontinued the merit lists from 2020 when the schools were closed due to pandemic.
Some students and schools claimed they had received the results much earlier than the official announcement.
This year, the pass percentage of girls stood at 94.54 per cent while that of boys was 91.25 per cent. The transgender candidates’ pass percentage was 100 per cent.
A total of 33,432 students have scored above 95 per cent marks while 1,34,797 have scored 90 pc marks.
Over 67,000 students have been placed in compartment.
“The board committee deliberated at length on the discussions of the committee. It was decided to adopt the recommendations and the weightage of first term was fixed at 30 per cent and the second term was fixed at 70 per cent. However, for practical equal weightage was decided to be given for both terms in computation of final results,” a senior board official explained.
The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) performed the best with 98.93 per cent students passing the exam followed by schools run by Central Tibetan School Administration (CTSA) with 97.96 pass percentage, Kendriya Vidyalayas (97.04 per cent), Government aided (94.81 per cent), Government schools (93.38 per cent) and private schools (92.20 per cent).
Meanwhile, the CBSE will conduct class 10 and 12 exams for the 2022-23 academic session from February 15 next year, according to examination controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.
Unlike last year, there will be only one exam at the end of the academic session in 2023.
“In light of the lessening of impact of the COVID pandemic across the globe, the board has decided to conduct the 2023 examination from February 15, 2023,” Bhardwaj said.
“CBSE has decided to go back to the conventional practice of holding board exams once a year. In 2022, in view of COVID-19, these exams were conducted in two terms,” Bhardwaj had earlier said.
The results for the 2022 examination for class 10 and 12 were announced today. While 92.7 per cent students have cleared the class 12 exam, 94.40 pc candidates have passed class 10 exam.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged students who passed their CBSE class 12 exams to follow their inner calling and pursue subjects they are passionate about.
Congratulating the students, he said, “The grit and dedication of these youngsters is commendable. They prepared for these exams through a time when humanity faced a monumental challenge and achieved this success.”
In tweets, Modi also had a word of motivation for those who may not be happy with their results, saying they must know that one exam will never define who they are. He expressed confidence that they will find more success in the times to come.
He also posted the video of this year’s “Pariksha pe charcha” where he spoke about different aspects related to exams.
Modi tweeted, “There are innumerable opportunities that await our young Exam Warriors, who passed the CBSE Class XII exams. I urge them to follow their inner calling and pursue subjects they are passionate about. My best wishes for their future endeavours.”
He also congratulated those who passed their CBSE Class 10 exams. “I wish them a fruitful academic journey ahead. I am certain these youngsters will scale new heights of success in the coming times,” he said. (PTI)
