JAMMU, July 23: “Asheerbad” – a collection of five Dogri plays, penned by Shambhu Ram “Pyasa”, was released here today.
Er S K Jain Yogacharya was the chief guest on the occasion where as eminent Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmad presided over the function. Janak Khajuria, eminent theater artist and former Chief Manager CCB was the special guest while , renowned Punjabi writer Baljit Singh Raina was the special invitee and Ashok Gupta, former Editor Shiraza was guest of honour . Harish Kaila President NDS and Som Raj Taroch also shared the dais.
“PYASA”- hailing from village Kothi Sainian, Bishnah has been writing mostly on social issues in the form of poetry, plays and verse. His five small plays in this book comprise “Ajj Di Nari”, “Kaudda Kutt”, “Khilladdi”, “May Dhiara” and “Asheerbad”. The issues highlighted are girl education, impostors looting people on army recruitments, native and new games of Duggar, transformation of drug addict employees to increase their productivity and strength of love.
Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmad, in his presidential address, said that today’s fast changing world and globalization is posing threat to our local cultures, customs and traditions. “In this back drop to maintain our unique identity and cultures the writers have big responsibility. No doubt our diversities are our real strength and the writers and artists working to preserve our cultures are infact working for the unity of our regions and the country,” he added.
Er S K Anand said that to preserve and strengthen our social fabric is of paramount importance to strengthen the society and the role of writers is significant in this regard.
Janak Khajuria said that the theater needs to be strengthened to disseminate the message of peace, unity and brotherhood.
Baljit Singh Raina said that the literary movement is must to create positivity in the society and the Art and Culture Academies and institutions will have to play a big role in this regard.
Ashok Gupta said that continuous endeavours of art, culture and literature are must for a vibrant society. Dogra Harish Kaila said that NDS is planning to start a strong literary campaign against drug abuse.
Rajni Anubhav compeered the proceedings while the programme ended with vote of thanks by Shambu Ram Pyasa.
