Jagti township inmates face water scarcity

JAMMU, July 24: The inmates of Jagti Township are facing acute shortage of drinking water for a long time.
The camp inmates and social activists Sunil Pandita and Vijay Koul have urged the authorities to look into the problem and take immediate steps in restoring water supply to the township. They said the camp inmates are facing many hardships due to water scarcity in this hot and humid Summer.
They said that despite taking up the issue with Relief authorities umpteen times they failed to take up appropriate measures in settling the problem. The issue of digging of bore wells as demanded by camp inmates is hanging in balance with the result the inmates of township are suffering, they added.
They also expressed concern over non availability of floor for relief holders at ration depots at Jagti and other camps and alleged that despite brining the issue in the notice of concerned authorities the relief holders have been denied floor till date. They sought immediate intervention of Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner in the matter.
