RAJOURI, July 25: The people from Thannamandi town and adjoining areas today held strong protest at Shahdara Chowk in the town today demanding up-grdation of local Prime Health Centre to Sub District Hospital level.
A large number of people of the area assembled at SDM office Thanamandi and held protest demanding upgradation of the hospital and availability of all facilities of SDH level. Later, they moved to the Shahdara Chowk and held protest dharna.
They pointed out that this hospital lacks all the basic facilities like USG and other tests for which public have to visit Rajouri or other private clinics and labs. They demanded that LG Administration must take immediate action in this regard.
They lambasted the BJP Govt and UT Administration and regretted that even in 2022, there is a PHC at Sub Divisional Headquarters. This is the highest healthcare Institute in this entire Sub Division which is very unfortunate.
The people showed great resentment against the authorities who have failed to upgrade this Institute to a CHC or SDH level. They said the staff is insufficient due to which public have to suffer. There is no Surgeon, no Gynecologist, no Physician available at Sub Divisional headquarters.
People have demanded immediate upgradation of this PHC to at least CHC level in the greater interest of common public. They told that the plight of Thannamandi hospital is known to Director Health Services Jammu, Commissioner/ Secretary Health and even Chief Secretary of J&K.
The protest was led by Haji Maqbool Raina and prominent among others who were present include- Arshad Nawaz Khan Trade Association president, Er Arshad Khan- social activist, Qazi Qammar Abdul Aziz- Sarpanch Bhanghai Panchayat and members of civil society.
The protestor blocked road in Shahdra Chowk where later Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah and SHO Thannamandi Shoket Hussain told people that they have already communicated matter to the higher authorities regarding this issue. Then they vacated the dharna site.
