Chairperson SAVE demands change in functioning of Animal Husbandry Hospitals

JAMMU, July 26: Chairperson Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE) and senior Vice President SPCA Jammu Devinder Kaur Madaan has demanded much needed changes in the functioning of Animal Husbandry Hospitals in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the letter written to Additional Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Madaan mentioned that there is absence of X-Ray, blood analysers and ultrasound facilities in all major District Hospitals in Jammu Division and demanded basic surgical kits for major and minor surgeries and facilities in all district CVH.
She said that only one hospital in the whole Jammu division (CVH Gole Pulle) has an X-Ray machine, which is lying non functional for many months for reasons best known to the department. “While people like us have to cart the animals to either private clinics at a whooping cost or get them treated with trial and error method risking their precious lives”, she said, adding that only one ultrasound machine in CVH Gole Pulle is not made functional as no demo was provided to the vets for its use nor any literature was made available to concerned operators for its use.
“Every District CVH Hospitals of Animal Husbandry Department should have blood analysers, X-Ray and Ultrasound facilities so that animals can be better treated and not referred to SKUAST Jammu”, she said and demanded basic facility for major and minor surgeries in all Animal Husbandry hospitals in the Jammu division. She also demanded posting of 2 trained surgeons in each district, one or two Animal Husbandry hospitals in every district should have 24 hours service for emergency cases.
