Woman dies in landslide, 3 rescued from flash flood

JAMMU, July 26: A woman was killed in landslide in Mahore area of district Reasi while three persons trapped in flash flood in Kargil area of Ladakh were rescued by Army and SDRF men today.
Reports from Reasi said that a woman namely Meena Devi (40), wife of Mangal Singh, resident of Sarh village in Mahore, was died on the spot after she came under the debris due to landslide in the same area this morning. Her body was later removed from the debris by the locals.
Another report from Kargil said that three persons were trapped in flash flood in rural belt of Kargil district due to heavy rain since last evening. Three persons namely Mohd Sharief, Ghulam Mehdi and Mohd Hassan were trapped in flash flood in Taisuru Youljuk area.
The villagers sought Army help and also informed District Administration, Kargil. Then the troops assisted by SDRF men rescued all the three from the river.
Due to flash flood agriculture land and standing crops of the local people suffered massive damage. Four houses were also partially damaged in the flash flood, the reports added.
