Addressing protesting Congress activists at Shangus in Kashmir, JKPCC president Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that Congress won’t be cowed by intimidation and misuse of agencies against the leadership, it will defeat every challenge and intimidation on the part of BJP Govt.
Mir who was flanked by senior leaders included Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Farooq Ahmad Bhat and others termed ED summons to Sonia Gandhi as unfortunate and unacceptable and questioned the ED Policy of BJP Govt. There is no FIR or any proof of money laundering in National Herald case despite that Govt has unleashed ED against Congress leadership in order hide its failure, rising prices, unemployment, unfulfilled promises and various unresolved issues, which the BJP could not address even after more than seven year’s rule.
Modi Govt want to keep Congress leadership engaged to malign the image of leadership, but the people have realized that it has done nothing for them, so unleashed ED and other agencies against opposition especially Congress to divert the attention and crush the dissent, Mir said.
District Congress Committee Srinagar held similar Satyagrah protest in Srinagar in which PCC vice president Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, general secretary Surinder Singh and other leaders and activists raised slogans against misuse of agencies against Congress leadership by Modi Govt.
DCC Baramulla held protest in Chandanwari area in which former minister and senior Congress leader Taj Mohi- U- Din, DCC President Fayaz Ahmad Mir, BDC Chairman Bharat Kumar and various other leaders participated.
In Jammu, Congress leaders and workers took out a protest rally at Bagh-e-Bahu against arrest of Rahul Gandhi along with other MPs and torched effigies of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The rally was led by JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla and joined by chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, senior leaders Yogesh Sawhney, Uday Bhanu Chib, Vijay Sharma, Jatinder Singh Chib beside others. Party activists carrying placards in their hands raised vociferous slogans against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Modi Government.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that BJP-led Government was harassing its top leaders by implicating them in “false” cases. He said that by resorting to the harassment in the garb of money laundering cases, the Central Government is stirring a hornet’s nest for which BJP and its leaders will have to pay a heavy price.
Senior Congress leader accused the Union Government of using its agencies as tools against the opposition party leaders. It is an irony that without registration of FIR or presence of money transaction records or evidence, the ED is making every effort to book the reputed senior leaders of Congress. He said Congress workers will continue to protests till ED, CBI, NIA stop harassing top leaders.
Similar protests were held in other parts of Jammu region today.
