Two accused convicted in NDPS Act case

SAMBA, July 28: The Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba has convicted 2 accused in NDPS Act case registered under FIR Number 76/2017 with Police Station Samba.
According to the case, on 12.04.2017, a team of Police Post Mansar during duty intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK22-6863.
During checking, police team recovered contraband item (cannabis) from the truck. The accused were arrested and contraband item was seized.
On this, case FIR Number 76/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
During the trial, the Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba has found sufficient evidences connecting the accused with crime.
The Court convicted the accused Junaid Ahmed Nazar, son of Ghulam Mohd Nazar of Tharan, District Shopian and Ishfaq Ahmed Lone, son of Nazir Ahmed Lone of Herporam, District Shopian and sentenced them to rigorous imprisonment of 11 years each with a fine of Rs 1 lakh each and in default of payment of fine, each accused shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year.
Thus prosecution has able to prove the case by clear and sufficient evidences under NDPS Act punishable under Section 8/20 of the said Act.
