JAMMU, July 28: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu and Ex-Minister Manjit Singh said that Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has been exposed with the heavy rains in Jammu city which triggered flash floods in residential colonies, damage to properties and water logging in main crossings.
Addressing a joining programme which was organized by District Secretary, Ashraf Choudhary, Manjit Singh said that the JMC has completely failed in developing Jammu City as per the wishes of the people.
“The water drainage system has collapsed as the drains were overflowing with dirt across the city and the majority of them were choked with the garbage. The residential areas were flooded with water and Jammu city was turned into a river in many places in many of the low lying areas,” he said.
He questioned BJP which has a majority in the Corporation for its hollow slogans of development and Smart City propaganda.
“The Smart City project has failed much before its take off. The Corporation could only install sign boards, painted walls, installed some fountains but failed to deal with the decades old issue of poor drainage system, water logging, and protection walls on the nallas in the residential colonies,” he said.
Earlier addressing the party leaders, Manjit Singh welcomed those who joined Apni Party and hoped that their joining will strengthen the party at the grass root level.
Prominent among those who joined Apni Party include Babli Devi, Gautam Singh, Arif Malik, Balvinder Singh, Simi Devi, Rani Devi, Laxmi Kumari, Rajni Kumari and others.
Provincial Vice President, Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, Additional General Secretary, Arun Chibber, Provincial Secretary/District President Jammu Urban, Dr Rohit Gupta, President Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi, State General Secretary Youth Wing, Abhay Bakaya, Provincial President Legal Cell, Vikram Rathore and many others were present on the occasion.
