JAMMU, July 28: All Parties United Morcha has rejected the Government claim in the Parliament that there was no opposition to the Delimitation report and accused the Government of misleading the nation on the issue.
Reacting sharply to the statement of the Government in the Parliament that there was no strong opposition to the Delimitation report in Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties United Morcha, comprising of Congress, NC, PDP, CPI M, CPI, IDP and other social organizations termed it total misrepresentation and wrong presentation of the situation before the nation.
In a joint statement on behalf of all constituent parties, United Morcha lashed out at the BJP Government for misleading the nation and throwing dust in the eyes of the people, as the Delimitation presented a totally biased and one sided report at the behest of the ruling BJP.
“The Commission totally ignored the norms of the delimitation like population, topography, geography, physical features, connectivity, contiguity and convenience of the public,” read the statement, adding that all genuine democratic protests and representations were ignored by the Commission and did an eye wash of hearing public ignoring all non BJP parties especially the main political parties with regards to very genuine claims and objections based on ground realities.
“The Commission has done great injustice to most of the areas and people and submitted its report in an arbitrary and irrational manner least bothering about the genuine requests and demands of the people of majority areas in Jammu and Kashmir,” said I D Khajuria, convener of APUM.
He reminded that all main non BJP parties had publically opposed the report and All Parties United Morcha along with several main political parties had held strong protest in front of the Election Commission office in Jammu against the report.
“There is general belief amongst people that the entire exercise and final report was prepared and presented at the behest and choice of ruling BJP, which is most unfortunate and against the basic spirit of delimitation,” said I D Khajuria.
