POONCH, July 29: Continuing its drive against drug abuse in the district, the police recovered 315 grams of heroin (Chitta ) from a drug-peddler in Gursai area of Mendhar Sub Division.
Reports said a Police party of PS Poonch laid a surprise naka at Mangnar for checking of vehicles. During naka checking, police party apprehended one suspicious person who tried to evade checking. During his personal search 100 grams of heroin like was recovered.
On questioning he disclosed his identity as Yasar Hussain, son of Sikandar Hussain, resident of Gursai in tehsil Mendhar. Moreover, one small weighing machine has also been recovered from the possession same person.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 163/2022 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered against him. During interrogation he further disclosed that there is one more consignment of drugs which he kept hidden near a place at Sagra village of Mankote only known to him.
On his disclosure, a police team led by SHO Poonch, Insp Ranjeet Singh Rao, assisted by PSI Rohit Kumar Bhagat reached the spot and recovered the other consignment of 215 gm of heroin.
