JAMMU, July 31: Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), led by its Chairman, Romesh Khajuria, participated in Buyer Seller Meet (BSM), organized by Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) and Invest India Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Govt of India.
The meet was aimed to promote, expand market access for Handicrafts & Handloom products of Jammu and Kashmir.
Being a promoter of Wool and Wool based handicraft items, WWEPC set up several stalls during the event, where products by the growers were displayed. Khajuria also took stock of the stalls and interacted with the visitors and owners.
Speaking on the occasion, Khajuria highlighted various products and services provided by WWEPC in promotion of Indian Wool and Wool based products.
He further added that with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, WWEPC also headed towards Atam Nirbhar Bharat and signed several trade agreements to enhance the scope of exports of Indian handicraft, which is in great demand.
Romesh Khajuria, also informed that WWEPC, Ministry of Textiles is in process to enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) and will work jointly in the direction to enhance the export of UT of J&K. He said that WWEPC has set a target of US Dollars one billion export of woollen products during 2002-23 and involving Jammu and Kashmir to achieve this target will help the wool growers of the Union Territory.
Sumita Dawra , Additional Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industries Government of India, Dr Devansh Yadav MD, JKTPO; Tariq Ahmad Zargar, Director, Hadicraft & Handlooms Kashmir; Zubair Ahmad, Director IICT Srinagar; Deputy CEOSh, Bilal Ahmad Kawoosa, Chairman, Kashmir Carpet Cluster Organisation and former member of all India Handloom Board, Ministry of Textiles, GoI were also present .
Notably, the Jammu and Kashmir Buyer-Seller Meet is building new synergies by connecting more than 40 sellers to 15 buyers from major brands and creating new market linkages for products of Handicraft & Handlooms which include Pashmina shawls, papier mache, walnut wood carving, silk carpets, Basoli Painting and much more.
