JMC continues ‘Clean up Jammu’ drive

JAMMU, Sept 21:   Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today continued its “Clean Up Jammu” sanitation drive in Ward No 19 A&B, 47 and 48 covering Ware House, Nehru Market, Bikram Chowk, Below Gumat, Qasim Nagar, Chand Nagar, BC Road, Ahata Sant, Kacha Talab, Pacca Talab, Bazigar Basti, Qasim Nagar, Central Mohalla, Rajeev Nagar, Shah Bhaz Basti, Masha Mohalla, Kalka Colony, Shekh Nagar, Gorkha Nagar, Masjid Mohalla and Bahu Fort Mandir area.
The drive was started from Jewel Chowk, which during rainy seasons has to face the wrath of flooding and water logging. Instructions were issued to Executive Engineer (UEED) for working out comprehensive plan for addressing the issue of choking of deep drains and nallahs.
It was assured to the residents and shopkeepers that immediate repairs shall be made to all the broken lanes and by lanes. The Enforcement wing removed the encroachments made by the vendors and shopkeepers in Bikram Chowk and seized two truck load of materials.
The team further visited Warehouse area and interacted with the office bearers of Warehouse Wholesale Traders Association, who briefed the JMC Commissioner about the problems being faced by them.
The JMC Commissioner assured provision of High Mast Lights, weekly basis disinfection of the area and desilting of nallahas to the Association members.
The areas of Wards No 47 and 48 were also covered and sanitation of every nook and corner was inspected. A public meet was also held at Pacca Talab which was attended by the Ex-Corporators, prominent citizens and local populace. The grievances were heard and intense interaction took place with the assurance for their redressal in a time bound manner.
The officers accompanying the Commissioner were Joint Commission (ADM), Joint Commissioner (W), Executive Engineer (T), Executive Engineer (UEED), Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer among others.
