RAMBAN, Sept 21: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the people must understand the nefarious design of certain disgruntled forces, who are trying to disturb the peaceful environs in the State and thwart their every such act with full might for ensuring sustained development of the State. The Minister was addressing a huge gathering of people at Maitra, after distributing the honorarium to the Panchs and Sarpanchs of the district. Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool Wani, MLA, Ramban, Ashok Kumar, MLC, Sham Lal Bagat, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, M.H. Malik, Director Rural Development Jammu, Shafiq Raina, SP, Javeed Mattoo, district officers, Sarpanchs, Panchs and large number of locals were present on the occasion. Mr. Sagar appreciated the people of Ramban district for exhibiting maximum degree of maturity for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the area and said that peace is pre-requisite for the development and prosperity, adding that people’s cooperation is vital in this regard and it is the priority of Coalition regime headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Mr. Sagar asked the people and Panchayat members to extend their whole hearted cooperation to the Government for maintaining peace and tranquillity to ensure sustained and need based development in rural and far-flung areas of the state. He asked the people to voluntarily participate in the development process and implementing various Gover-nment schemes. The Minister informed the gathering that Government has kept Rs. 10 lakh in CDF funds of MLA for the development of every Panchayat, Rs. 20 lakh for the construction of new Panchayat Ghars, Rs. 1.5 lakh for renovation of existing Panchayat Ghars. He directed the ACD to undertake construction of 30 Panchayat Ghars already sanctioned in the district within next 3 months. He also announced construction of District Panchayat Bhawan for Ramban. He asked the District Development Commissioner to submit DPRs for the same, so that the work is started at the earliest. Mr. Vikar said that Government has initiated several developmental works in the area, which would go long way in changing the rural profile. He said that the schemes like MGNREGA and others have been instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living in rural and far flung areas of the State. He asked the people to ensure their massive participation in the development process and avail maximum benefits of various programmes initiated by the Government. He urged them to provide necessary feedback about the implementation of the same to the Government which would prove useful for improving things on ground.
