JAMMU, Aug 1: Dogri Sanstha working for preserving and publicizing mother tongue Dogri organized an online ‘Yuva Kahani Goshthi’ and dedicated it to one of the most prolific Hindi and Urdu writer Premchand on his birthday.
In the program, three well known young short story writers mesmerized the audience with their beautiful and thought provoking stories wherein Dr Sheetal Sharma explored the generation gap with ‘Sharminda’ whereas Dr Radha Rani exposed the man domination and sufferings of females through her well-crafted short story ‘Nami Kahani’. Dr Sunil Kumar, recipient of Sahitya Academy New Delhi’s Yuva Puraskar for his collection of short stories ‘SEES’ in 2019 read two short stories ‘Majboor’ based on casteism and ‘Nehra” revolving around unemployment, corruption and quashed selection lists that increase the frustration of genuine candidates.
The program was presided over by Prof Veena Gupta, eminent Dogri writer and vice president of the Sanstha. She said that all the three writers have proved with their short stories that mother tongue Dogri has a bright future. She hoped that they will continue writing on different aspects of life and contribute to Dogri literature and will inspire their students of the colleges where they deputed as Assistant Professors.
The program was conducted by well-known English, Hindi and Dogri writer and general secretary of the Sanstha, Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’ promised that the Dogri Sanstha will organize more and more innovative programs both online and offline in future also.
The technical support was given by eminent theatre activist and poet PawanVerma and the program was appreciated throughout India and abroad through the Facebook page of Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
