JAMMU, Aug 2: Traffic Police challaned three bikers for doing stunts and seized their motorcycles here in Jammu city.
This was informed by Additional SP Traffic Raj Paul Singh while interacting with media persons here today.
He said that on the directions of SSP Traffic City Jammu Dr Koshal Kumar Sharma, Traffic Police City Jammu intercepted stunt bikers and challaned their motorcycles bearing registration numbers JK06A-6314, JK06A-9278 and JK02CQ-4499 driven by youths namely Raees Malik, Shafqat and Nawab Tabish who used to post stunts on YouTube, Instagram and other social media channels.
“The youth in their videos were clearly seen doing stunts and driving dangerously which posed threat to society and have negative effect on youth. In this connection, all the 3 bikes were seized and challaned on spot under relevant section of MV Act”, Additional SP added.
In order to discourage this menace, Traffic Police City Jammu launched special drives and established special nakas to intercept these stunt bikers, he said, adding that the parents of youth along with violators were called in TPL Jammu for counselling. Parents were also advised to guide their children to avoid such dangerous activities and take interest in education and other aspects of life, Additional SP stated.
He also briefed media persons about the steps being taken to curb the menace of stunt biking, rash and dangerous driving.
Later, SSP Traffic Dr Koshal Kumar Sharma, Additional SP Traffic Raj Paul Singh and DySP Traffic City Rural Jammu Neeraj Padyar counselled the youth and advised their parents not to allow their wards for such dangerous activities and aware them of the outcome of such activities.
