JAMMU, Aug 3: Provincial President, National Conference, Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta today strongly condemned brutal lathi-charge on peacefully agitating daily-wagers of Jal Shakti Department, terming it as inhumane and demanded immediate regularization of all the daily rated workers.
In a statement issued here today, he said that peaceful protest to draw the attention of Government for resolution of problems is democratic right. “Government always neglected them by giving them a deaf ear to their demands. Some of these daily wagers are serving the Government for the last 25 years, but neither they get regular wages nor the Government regularizes them. In this era of inflation, it is impossible for them to arrange two-time meals for their families in absence of regular wages,” he added.
The senior NC leader asked the LG led administration to take all possible steps for regularization and regular wages under the Minimum Wages Act to these daily rated workers so that they may get a sigh of relief in this highly inflation era.
