JAMMU, Sept 22: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather and Chief Secretary to announce the pending installment of 10% DA due from July in favour of State Government employees and pensioners well before ensuing festival season.
Addressing a series of meetings of NMC activists at Jammu and Vijaypur today, Shastri said that salaried class is facing a lot of economic hardships due to high inflation and price rise and the early release of DA installment would be the genuine measure to provide some relief to them.
Shastri appealed Omar Abdullah to take the decision in this regard at the next Cabinet meeting, as the same installment has been released by the Union Cabinet to its employees and pensioners recently.
Stressing the need on formulation of a National Pay policy throughout the country, Shastri demanded setting up of 7th Pay Commission, which would cover both Central and State Government employees and pensioners.
Shastri also urged that till the new Pay Commission is constituted and recommendations implemented, 50% DA be merged with basic pay and pension and an interim relief in the form of a grant of 20% of basic pay and pension be provided to the employees and pensioners at the earliest.
He also demanded the Government to regularize the services of all daily rated workers engaged in various Government Departments, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadres, early amendment in SRO 64, etc.
