VAP State unit discusses demands

JAMMU, Sept 22: A meeting of the executive body of Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad (VAP), J&K Unit was held here today under the chairmanship of its president, Dr Govind Ram Gupta to discuss their demands.
The meeting discussed various issues concerning promotion of Ayurveda in the State including creation of job opportunities for the unemployed Ayurvedic graduates.
The members noted that in 1982 45 Medical Aid Centers were upgraded to Ayurvedic dispensaries and thereafter no Ayurvedic Dispensaries were opened.
The Central Government had provided funds for setting up Drug Testing laboratory and Pharmacy at Jammu. The buildings were constructed long back but still were awaiting sanctioning of requisite posts and installation of necessary machinery and equipments, the members said.
The meeting resolved that Government should create of posts of Medical Officers and pharmacist for the unsanctioned dispensaries to create job opportunities for Ayurvedic Doctors, segregate posts of Ayurvedic and Unani Doctors so that all system under AYUSH are developed equitably.
“To remove stagnation prevailing amongst the senior Medical Officer, Block level post of Medical Officer (Indian Medicine) needs to be created, which will result in better functioning and monitoring of dispensaries and also create various posts for unemployed Ayurvedic Graduates”, the speakers said, adding the Government should also create two posts in selected Ayurvedic dispensaries.
The Association also expressed its full support to Unemployed Ayurvedic BAMS Doctors Association and urged the Government to create posts for absorbing them in Government service at the earliest.
