Gupta cautions about alarming security situation

JAMMU, Sept 22: Striking a note of caution over the security situation in general especially in the trouble -torn Kashmir and the Line of Control, the former Union Minister of State for Defence and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta today said that it was unfortunate that due attention is lacking and uncalled for public controversy is being created which would not help in taking remedial measures but rather provide fodder to the enemy guns under operation in various guises in the State.
Referring to the press reports that in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) terrorist training camps have been established very close to the LoC by the Pak Army and lanching pads for pushing the highly trained ultras to this side, is a serious development as enemy has already been indulging in violations of ceasefire with the ulterior purpose to create difficult situation for the forces, both at the frontiers as also in the interior.
The need of the time, he said, was to pay more and more attention on the borders of West and North, where all is not well, the certain elements within the Government at the Centre as also in their agencies seem to be playing more in the hands of politicians rather preparing for meeting any challenge to the security situation. Attempts appear to be there to settle their scores rather performing.
There are set rules and regulations within the Army as also in its agencies to deal with any wrong but the manner in which internal problems are being aired, is really a matter of concern and is not in the interest of the security of the country, he added and impressed upon the Defence Ministry to realize the gravity of situation at frontiers as also in areas infected by militancy and the growing activities of the separatists. The manner in which some controversial reports are being circulated, would obviously add fuel to the fire and provide fodder to those who are already in arms against forces and crying for revoking of their special powers and even remove them from this State of J&K, he added and observed gimmicks and controversies are always raised on the eve of elections but the national interests demand that the security agencies should not be involved in such like antics.
