‘Jat Samellan’ held at Kaluchack

JAMMU, Sept 23: Tehsil Level Committees of Jat community organised a “Jat Samellan” at Kaluchack, which was presided over by Choudhary Manmohan Singh, president, All India Jat Mahasabha.
In the samellan, Jat community people from various areas of the Jammu province participated and discussed issues related to the community.
The participants flayed the Government for not redressing the problems being faced by the Jat community.
They demanded one time settlement, RBA within 8 km of International Border (IB) area, ownership rights to the refugees of 1945, 1965, 1971 and OBC.
They expressed their disappointment with the previous leaders, who had never dared to hold talks with the Government relating to the problems of the community.
“Inclusion of areas within 8 km of International Border (IB) area in the list of socially and educationally backward classes was the Cabinet decision, but till date it is on papers”, they alleged. “Had such efforts being taken at that time, when the order was directed, it would have been implemented till now”, they added.
If the Government fails to redress their issues at the earliest, then they will come on roads and hold protest and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible, the participants of the samellan warned.
Choudhary Manmohan Singh in his speech appealed other communities to come forward, as the refugees are not only Jats. At present a joint effort is needed to remind the Government regarding of their rights, he added.
Among others present were Amar Singh, Surjeet Singh, Sudarshan Kumar, Capt Tirth Singh, Capt Suraj Bhan, Sham Choudhary, Bhagwan Nagara, Prof Ajit Singh Nagara, Dilwar Singh, Palminder Singh, etc.
