AWANTIPORA, Aug 11: Reshipora Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 45 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
As per official spokesman, acting on specific information a team from Police Post Reshipora headed by SI Muneer Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti laid a naka and intercepted a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number JK01T-2396.
During checking, police team recovered 45 kilograms of poppy straw from the car and arrested the drug peddler, who was identified as Athar Maqbool, son of Mohd Maqbool Ganie of Waghama District Anantnag.
The car used in the commission of the said crime has also been seized.
A case FIR under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation started.
