JAMMU, Aug 12: District Congress Committee, Jammu Rural, today launched the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ to mark the 75 years of Independence of the country in Jammu North Assembly segment.
The programme was organised by Uday Bhanu Chib, president J&K Pradesh Youth Congress in which Mula Ram, former minister and JKPCC vice president was the chief guest while Th Manmohan Singh, general secretary, Rajneesh Sharma, Hari Singh Chib president DCC Jammu Rural were also present.
Talking to reporters, Mula Ram said that the Congress, unlike the Bharatiya Janata Party or any other political party in the country, had a great and glorious history of sacrifice for the national Tricolour. Taking a dig at the BJP’s claims over nationalism, the former minister said, the BJP has a lot to learn from the Congress on the issue of nationalism.
“They are no comparison to us when it comes to watching and safeguarding the national interest and our leaders have laid down their lives for nationalism, both before and after the independence of the country,” he said.
Manmohan Singh and Rajneesh Sharma criticised NDA Government for hike of prices of essential commodities and increase of unemployment rate in the country and particularly in Jammu and Kashmir which is highest in India.
Hari Singh Chib, DCC chief condemned all those forces which ‘were trying to again vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state by resorting to divisive tactics”, which have otherwise already been rejected by the people of Jammu and Kashmir time and again. He held the hollow policies of BJP responsible for economic slowdown, unemployment and unbridled inflation.
