DHPS management warns public not to move near Chenab

JAMMU, Aug 12: The Management of Dulhasti Power Station (DHPS), NHPC Limited has cautioned general public of Doda and Kishtwar districts and the public of village Dul, Benzwar, Cherhar, Bhandarkot, Hasti, Kandani, Prem Nagar and Pul Doda to not to move near River Chenab from August 12 TO 13, 2022 as the gates of DHPS dam shall be opened for reservoir flushing during this period.
The dam gates of DHPS will be opened for reservoir flushing on August 12, 2022 (Friday) from 15:00 hrs to August 13, 2022 (Saturday) till 09:00 hrs.
“During this period the water level of River Chenab may rise to 2 to 3 meters in downstream areas of the river. Therefore, the public residing near and in the downstream areas of River Chenab is cautioned to refrain from moving themselves/their cattle/trucks & tippers near the banks of River Chenab to avoid any mishap and to co-operate for the safety of their lives,” a handout of DHPS stated.
It further stated that anybody violating the request shall be doing so at his/her own risk and responsibility and NHPC/DHPS Management shall not be responsible for consequences thereof.
