JAMMU, Aug 17: One-day consultation workshop on `National Curriculum Frameworks’ was organized by the Central University of Jammu, in collaboration with National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), here today.
The main objective of the program was to make understand core-objectives of National Curriculum Frameworks at school, which includes ECCE, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary stages as well as at higher education level.
In his opening remarks, Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor CUJ, admired NCERT for inviting consultation with various stakeholders in preparing the National Curriculum Frameworks (NCF). He said that the Government of India is very seriously trying to implement NEP-2020 for which it has already started consulting the stakeholders with the help of higher education institutions, especially the Universities. He strongly emphasized on current pedagogical practices at various levels of education.
On this occasion, various stakeholders from NGOs, SCERT, DIET, Schools, and Colleges, participated. Dr J N Baliya, Head, Dept of Educational Studies, briefed the delegates about the need of conducting this workshop and also threw some light on four major curricular areas such as School Education, Early Childhood Care and Education, Adult Education and Teacher Education.
Prof S V Sharma, Principal, RIE, NCERT, Ajmer, said that in order to collect inputs and to finalize National Framework for School Education, all the stakeholders were connected with paperless and bottom approach.
Prof Kailash Chandra Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, Kurushtra University & Vice-Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, reminded that previous Education Policies were not made in the context of Indian culture and ethos. He further deliberated that integration and liberal art forms are essential for holistic development among the youth for which NEP-2020 makes a way through multiple entry and exit system in education. Prof Kailash emphasized that curriculum should be developed with the aim to create a link between school and higher education.
On this occasion, Prof Rajeev Rattan Sharma from JU, Prof Sarayu Yadav (NCERT), Prof Rajesh Mishra, Prof Ayushman Goswami (NCERT), Prof A K Arya (NCERT), Prof Rasal Singh, CUJ; Prof Usha Tikoo, Dr Naresh Sharma, (Vidya Bharti), Dr Tarun Punia, (NIOS), Sumit, (Natrang), Vivek Jamwal, Dr Neeraj Jangral (SCERT) and other officials from various educational institutes addressed their views in various technical sessions and also replied to the queries of the stakeholders.
