Kathua police rescues 15 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

KATHUA, Aug 17: Kathua police under overall supervision of SSP, Romesh Chander Kotwal rescued 15 bovines, arrested two persons and one seized one vehicle within the district.
In the first instance a police team led by Inspector, Sunil Kumar Sharma SHO Police Station (PS) Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan during patrolling duty at Plahi area apprehended two persons namely Mian Rashid, son of Faroz Din of Plahi, Maskeen Ali alias Bantu son of Lal Hussain of Plahi tehsil Hiranagar who were indulging in the trade of transportation and smuggling of bovine animals by foot from Plahi area.
On checking, the police team was able to rescue 13 bovines including 11 cows and two oxen from their possession and two persons were arrested on spot. A case vide FIR No. 118/2022 U/S 188/IPC has been registered at PS Hiranagar and further investigation initiated.
While in another instance on receiving the specific information from a reliable source that one auto load carrier bearing Registration No. JK02CW-7526 driven by an unknown person was involved in the smuggling of bovine animals from Punjab towards J&K UT. Acting swiftly police team led by PSI Ranbher Singh IC PP Hatli under the supervision of DySP, Headquarters Kathua, Shammi Kumar laid a special naka near NHW Hatli .
On seeing the naka party, the driver of the vehicle managed to fled away from the spot. On thorough checking, the police team was able to rescue two bovine animals (two Oxen ) from the vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02CW-7526. A case vide FIR No. 320/2022 U/S 188/IPC registered at PS Kathua and further investigation taken up.
