JAMMU, Sept 25: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in its initiative under “Clean up Jammu” sanitation drive reached out to citizens residing in Ward number 53 and 54 covering Trikuta Nagar Sector 1 to 4, Basant Vihar, Bhawani Vihar, Laxmi Enclave, Khoo Walli Galli, Trikuta Nagar Sector 5 to 9 and Shiva Colony.
On spot assessment of the sanitary conditions and performance of other Municipal services was made and necessary instructions were issued for improvement of civic amenities.
The drive led by Kiran Wattal, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation and a team of officers along with the Ex-Corporator, businessmen and prominent citizens of the wards visited every nook and corner of the area.
Commissioner also planted trees in the compound of Temple complex at Sector 7 and advised all those present to keep city green.
The Engineering section of JMC was asked to undertake minor repairs of lanes and drains immediately to provide relief from water logging and flooding. The Executive Engineer (UEED) was instructed to take measures for addressing the issue of choking of deep drains/nallahs in Vasant Vihar, Trikuta Nagar and adjoining areas.
Besides, public meets were also organized at Panj Mandir, Vasant Enclave and Mini Shopping Complex Trikuta Nagar. The residents demanded desilting of Nallahs and drains, repair/installation of street lights, fogging and beautification of parks.
During the drive in Nanak Nagar area, encroachments made in the markets were removed. The Shopkeepers were advised to maintain the shop line and not allow any material to be placed on the roadside.
The officers accompanying the Commissioner were Joint Commission (ADM), Joint Commissioner (W), Secretary, JMC, Executive Engineers, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer and Chief Enforcement Officer.
