JAMMU, Sept 25: Dr B S Komal, a renowned mathematician and former HoD Mathematics Department Jammu University today delivered a lecture on “Importance of Calculus in Mathematics” under the Program “Lecture Series in Mathematics” organized by Department of Mathematics, GGM Science College Jammu.
Before the commencement of lecture, Prof D K Raina, HoD Department of Mathematics gave a welcome address in which he introduced the expert with his achievements in the field of Mathematics. There after Dr Satinder Singh, Principal of the college addressed the gathering in which he explained importance of Mathematics in every branch of Science.
In his lecture Prof Komal explained various aspects of Calculus with the help of practical examples concerning science, applicable to day to day life. The students interacted with expert and got satisfactory answers to their queries.
Prof Sunil Gupta presented a vote of thanks in which he said that this process of lecture delivery by visiting faculty members and eminent scholars in this premier institution is essential for the development of Mathematics at the college level.
Among others the lecture was attended by Prof NK Dhar, Dr R S Pathania, Dr Shally Gupta, Prof Kanchan Kohli, Dr JL Sharma, Dr Narinder Sharma and Prof Ankit Sharma all faculty members of the Department of Mathematics and students from BSc Part I, II & III of the College.
