JAMMU, Aug 18: A delegation from Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha (PVS) J&K today met Divisional Commissioner Jammu and submitted a detailed memorandum apprising him of the issues of OBC people and problems being faced by the people for obtaining OBC certificates from Tehsildars.
The delegation led by Raj Kumar Tarkhan (Chairman, Jammu Municipal Corporation) told Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar that there are a number of irregularities in the ‘online portal’ for OBC certificate which should be removed immediately.
The Divisional Commissioner was further informed that there is intermixing of State/UT and Central Government ruling for issuing the OBC certificate due to which people have confused. The Divisional Commissioner was requested to pass direction for intermixing of rules.
He was further apprised that in the SRO-294 for state OBC certificate, the Rule 21 clause (ii) has been relaxed to the extent that certificate shall be issued on the basis of his caste and not on the basis of occupation of his father vide SRO-144 but online portal is still asking for occupation of father. The delegation urged the Divisional Commissioner to drop this condition from the online portal.
The delegation members further said that the formalities prescribed for getting the OBC certificate include Revenue record to establish the caste. They alleged that this formality deprives the landless people from OBC reservation benefit and thus, it should be removed.
The Divisional Commissioner patiently heard the problems of the delegation and assured to resolve the issues in short period of time.
Shashi Verma (president, PVS), Raj Kumar Chalotra (vice president), Sham Lal (cashier), Advocate Amarjeet Chargotra, Vandana Sagar and Veena Chalotra from Mahila Wing were part of the delegation.
