Srinagar, Aug 19: Police today said to have arrested 4 drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
Police Station Tral received specific information that one person namely Showkat Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohd Bhat, resident of Nadar Tral has indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house.
On receipt of this information, a police party led by SHO Police Station Tral along with the Executive Magistrate concerned raided the specific spot.
“During the search, police was able to recover 433Kgs of grinded Poppy Straw from the residential house. The accused along with 3 other associates were arrested on the spot,” police said.
They have been identified as Tawseef Ah Rather son of Ghulam Rasool resident of Panner Tral, Muzafar Ahmed Lone son of Ali Mohd resident of Check Noorpora, and M Saleem Khan Son of Ghulam Ahmad Khan resident of Handoora Tral, police said.
