JAMMU, Aug 19: Shiv Sena J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration and expressed disappointment against the decision of Election Commission for granting voting rights to non-locals residing in J&K and has termed the development a conspiracy of BJP led Government at the Centre to grab power in J&K.
The protest was led by Manish Sahni, president Shiv Sena J&K who strongly condemned voting rights to non-local staying here.
“Sensing resentment among the people of J&K against BJP, now a game is being played to grab the power in J&K with the help of non-locals,” he said adding that such step will influence the culture and identity of J&K people which will never be tolerated.
“It is a matter of surprise that right to vote is being given to outsiders in a UT where even external SIM does not function,” Sahni maintained.
He said that all the political parties of J&K should come together to protest against the decision of Election Commission.
Shiv Sena Women Wing president, Meenakshi Chibber; general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; chairman, Rakesh Gupta and others were also present in the protest.
