YAIKS meet discusses prevailing situation in Kashmir

JAMMU, Aug 20: In view of the alarming situation in Kashmir valley for the minorities living there, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) organized a “community meet” here, today which was attended by KP leaders, opinion makers, prominent citizens and employees.
The meeting was presided over by R K Bhat president YAIKS which discussed prevailing situation in the Valley as well as safety and security of Valley posted employees as well as minorities living there.
Padamshri Dr. K. N. Pandita was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. A N Sadhu and B L Saraf retired Principal District and Sessions Judge were the guests of honour. Among others Virender Raina, president Panun Kashmir (PK), B L Bhat, chairman SRMA, Prof. B. L. Zutshi president HESK , Sundari Lal Koul, secretary – PNBMT, Ashok Ji Dhar, president TRT Muthi, Kuldeep Pandita – president Thinkers Forum, Satish Raina, Ranjan Jotshi, Rakesh Pandita, Vimal Raina and others were present.
During the meeting in support of ongoing employees struggle, the YAIKS considered two important issues facing the community at present which included targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley including non-local Hindus and local Muslims and to take nearly three months long struggle of the KP employees to its logical conclusion with the demand that in view of security concerns on the ground, they be temporarily shifted to Jammu.
It is the fundamental and primary duty of the Government to make a safe and conducive atmosphere at their working and residential places before they are forced to rejoin their duties in the Valley, the meeting said.
The meeting also criticized the successive Governments, who had miserably failed to provide the basic amenities to the minorities living in the Valley. For the last 12 years the Government could not construct even accommodation for employees who are living in far flung areas in rented accommodation. The leaders rejected the proposal of one room tenement accommodation for employees.
