Locals protest for repair of Kanjli road

UDHAMPUR, Aug 20: Agitated over the worst condition of Kanjli Mohalla road, locals held a strong protest at village Kanjli Mohalla in Panchayat Battal, here today.
The protesting villagers were raising slogans against the PWD and District administration for their failure to repair the one km road stretch for the last ten years. They were demanding immediate repair and black topping of the road.
The villagers informed that the road from National Highway Battal to National Highway Birwan Bridge via Mohalla Kanjli, Panchayat Battal Block Udhampur was contracted and blacktopped in the year 2011-12. “Since then it was never repaired and the present condition of the said road is very deplorable and one cannot even walk properly or ply a vehicle on this road, which requires immediate repair and blacktopping,” they said, adding that there is also one culvert on this road which requires repair.
Besides locals, some villagers from adjoining areas also joined the protest and threatened an indefinite protest till the road is repaired. The protest demonstration was addressed by Vijay (Balla), Radhey Sham, Kuldeep Kumar, Panch Bodh Raj, Vicky and Romesh Chander, Shambu Biru, Pt Rajinder, Sanjeev Kumar and Sanjay Kumar.
