KOLLAM, Sept 26:
Gujarat Chief Minister and the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said the teachings of ‘rishis’ and ‘munis’ were far better than the slogan of ‘inclusive growth.’
Spiritual leaders like Mata Amritanandamayi and others are carrying out welfare measures for the poor as being done by governments, he said while addressing a large gathering in connection with the 60th birthday celebrations of Amma at Vallikavu.
“Today, we are discussing a lot about inclusive growth. But the message carried forward by rishis and munis for peace and happiness for everyone are far better than any election manifesto,” he added.
“Many of them today are disappointed because of the present state of the country. But I am not disappointed because 125 crore people in the country are capable of absorbing the great values of leaders like Sree Vivekananda,’ Mr Modi said.
Though most of the people celebrate their birthdays for happiness, Amma celebrated her birthday for launching welfare scheme for poor and encourage technology developments.
“Amma’s entire life is dedicated to wipe out the sufferings of drowntrodden,” said Mr Modi, who began his address in local language Malayalam.
Several diginitaries attended the meeting. (UNI)
