Tara Chand, Balwan, Manohar flay BJP for patting its own back

JAMMU, Aug 24: Senior Congress leaders including former DyCM, Tara Chand, former MLA and JKPCC general secretary Thakur Balwan Singh, former ministers- Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Ch Garu Ram; JKPCC Refugee Cell chairman Vinod Sharma, treasurer Rajneesh Sharma, Ved Mahajan (Ex-MLC) and other senior leaders in a meeting held today reviewed arrangements for felicitation programme of newly appointed JKPCC chief , Waqar Rasool Wani at Jammu on Aug 30.
The meeting was organized by JKPCC general secretary Th Balwan Singh and presided over by former DyCM Tara Chand. On the occasion, several other vital issues were also discussed with regard to organization and current political and economical scenario in J&K.
The meeting unanimously expressed gratitude to party high command for appointing Waqar Rasool Wani as new JKPCC chief and expressed confidence that with the appointment of dynamic, energetic and visionary JKPCC chief, Congress will reach every nook and corner of J&K with party’s ideology and achievements in J&K and effectively counter BJP’s propaganda against party besides vigorously highlighting anti- J&K policies and programmes of BJP Govt. The meeting resolved to maintain strict discipline in the Party at all levels.
Senior leadership also condemned the harassment to the various categories of contractual adhoc, daily wagers, needs based and other temporary employees working in different departments and sought their regularization. Meeting held threadbare discussions on various issues including the current political and security situation, organizational affairs and issues of women and youth, social justice, public welfare and other matters of public importance.
Tara Chand took a swipe at the BJP government, asking whether the situation has become normal in J&K after their blunders claiming that life of J&K people will be revolutionized with their experiments even after the passage of nearly three years. He accused the government of indulging in self-congratulatory rhetoric over Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the UT Government has failed on all fronts in providing relief to the common people. He lambasted BJP Government for rising prices of essential items.
Balwan Singh reiterated party demand for the restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with Constitutional safeguards for the protection of land and jobs for the locals of J&K. He sought early restoration of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Congress shall reach out to coordinate its efforts with other like-minded forces, groups, NGOs etc to fight against the “politics of hate, division and diversion” of the BJP in-order to maintain atmosphere of peace and harmony in the society.
Senior leaders Dr Manohar Lal, Ved Majahan, Vinod Sharma and others also spoke on the occasion.
