DDC reviews functioning of health sector

KISHTWAR, Sept 27:  Chairing a review meeting of health functionaries of district including CMO, Superintendent District Hospital, BMOs of Medical Block Kishtwar, Chatroo, Dachhan and Padder besides other officers, the DDC Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan today held threadbare deliberations regarding the medical facilities, status of under construction PHC buildings, NRHM, RKS, immunisation programme, institutional deliveries and other aspects of health sector in all four medical blocks of district Kishtwar.
The Block Medical Officers of respective blocks, through a power point presentation, apprised the DDC of the implementation of all health programmes, their physical and financial achievements and also the problems being faced by them.
Mr Khan sought detailed explanations regarding the less number of institutional deliveries and low pace of immunisation programme at some places. The concerned officials were asked to put their best efforts to give best results.
Regarding the progress of ongoing construction works, the respective Executive Engineers were directed to expedite the works and hand over the completed buildings to the Health Department. In case of Medical Block Kishtwar, a Special Audit was ordered. All the BMOs were directed to hold awareness camps at Panchayat levels to educate the masses regarding various health sector initiatives taken by the Government.
The DDC asked the department to implement NRHM in letter and spirit and provide benefit to the rural poor at their door step so that the burden on district hospital gets reduced. He gave more emphasis on institutional deliveries, minor surgeries and immunization programme in far flung areas.
He also directed the Superintendent District Hospital to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation in the hospital and ensure safe disposal of medical waste. Regarding the shortage of medical supplies and non availability of CT scan unit, Mr Khan assured that matter will be taken up with higher authorities.
