Northern Rly achieves breakthrough of main Railway Tunnel T13

REASI, Aug 29: Northern Railway achieved breakthrough of main Railway Tunnel T13 as both ends of the tunnel between Dugga and Sawalkot Station were opened today with a blast in the tunnel at Sawalkot side.
To mark the occasion, a program was also organized at Khanikot where CAO USBRL Project, SP Mahi was present.
This 9.116 km long railway tunnel is part of the 272 Km Udhampur- Srinagar- Baramulla Rail Link Project. The break-through of this tunnel will prove to be a major achievement to reach the train to Kashmir.
There were many challenges faced by the workers during the construction of this tunnel. Engineers and workers carried out the tunnel work to the end, traversing the difficult terrain, remote terrain, unstable terrain and adverse weather problems.
Northern Railway has achieved a great success by breaking through this 9.116 long Railway Tunnel-13 between Dugga and Sawalkot railway stations of Katra-Banihal rail section.
This tunnel is being constructed by HCC and VCCL under the supervision of Northern Railway and KRCL. Around a month ago, Northern Railways had executed the breakthrough of escape tunnel T-13 between Dugga and Sawalkot station.
