RAJOURI, Aug 29: A strong protest was held by the people against Jal Shakti/ PHE department at village Tandwal in Rajouri district today.
The protest was led by Sarpanch Yogesh Sharma. The assembled at the village and started protest demonstration. They were raising loud slogans against PHE authorities and District Administration, Rajouri.
The village Sarpanch stated that there is no water supply in the area for the last several months and department has done nothing to restore water supply. They told that people are suffering badly. The village Mankote and Sadyal are suffering much as no water supply is provided to the village for the last one and half year.
The villagers said that they have to carry water from about one kilometer on their shoulders. They claimed that they ran from pillars to post but no one heard them. They appealed the DC Rajouri to look into the matter and direct concerned officers to resolve the matter so that the genuine problem can be solved and water is provided to the effected villagers.
DC Rajouri, Vikas Kundal assured the public on phone that the problem will be resolved soon. Then they suspended protest demonstration.
