JAMMU, Aug 29: Aam Aadmi Party on Monday extended its support to Jammu bandh call given by Bar Association Jammu and termed their demand genuine and for public benefit.
The Jammu Bandh call was given by Bar Association as a part of their ongoing agitation with demand for setting up all allied judicial institutions like CAT, Armed Forces Tribunal under one roof at Janipur High Court complex.
The bandh call in Jammu evoked a response from civil society members also whereas Aam Aadmi Party had already announced to extend its support to this call.
On Monday, as a part of bandh call, AAP volunteers held a protest dharna in Jammu which was headed by legal wing of the party while volunteers from across the region took part in this protest dharna.
Talking with media person, Advocate Sareen of Aam Aadmi Party’s legal wing said that Government’s response towards this agitation of judicial fraternity is astonishing and shows that Govt is taking all sections of society far granted.
“Are lawyers demanding anything illegal or out of this world?” Adv Sareen questioned adding that lawyers are only demanding things which is for public benefit.
The advocates are protesting for using available land in Jammu Janipur High Court complex and to set up a multi storey building where all allied wings of judiciary can also be established that include Armed Forces Tribunal, CAT.
“It is astonishing to see that Government’s response towards this agitation is so adamant which can be gauged from the fact that only Divisional Commissioner met with the protesting lawyers and there is no response from LG administration.” Adv Sareen said.
