JAMMU, June 12: Talab Tillo Mandal BJP held a protest demonstration against the erratic power supply in front of Chief Engineer M&RE Office at Canal here today.
The demonstration, was led by BJP Jammu district president, Rajesh Gupta. The protestors also submitted a memorandum to Chief Engineer M&RE expressing concern over the erratic power supply in Jammu.
Addressing the demonstrators Rajesh Gupta criticized the Department for its failure in maintaining power supply as per the schedule and alleged that the increasing power curtailments has led to the problems of people especially the old and infirm in this sweltering heat of Summer.
He said to enforce power cuts in these hot Summer days when the temperature has crossed 44 degrees shows the total callousness of the Department towards the people of Jammu.
He said the Department has even failed to maintain round the clock power supply in the areas where the electronic metres have been installed. On the one hand the department is forcing the people to deposit the electricity tariff at much higher rate and on the other hand it is unable to maintain the power supply round the clock, he added.
District vice president, Sanjay Baru alleged that due to increasing power cuts the water supply has also been affected in various areas of the city and its outskirts. The BJP Mandal president, Pushpa Wazir alleged that Talab Tillo is one of the most affected areas where people do not get round the clock power supply.
