Police solves rape and murder case within 3 hours

LEH, Aug 31: The District Police Leh today claimed to have solved a rape and murder case within three hours of its occurrence.

According to police sources, at about 3 AM today, Police Station Leh received an information that a lady namely Tsewang Dolma (55) daughter of Tundup Paljor, resident of Achinathang (at present living at Sheynam) has been murdered in her house.
Accordingly, a team of Police Station Leh led by SHO Inspector Sonam Rigzin SHO and a team of Police Post Housing Colony led by Inspector Rigzin Gurmet reached the spot and a case under FIR Number 149/22 was registered U/S 302 IPC in Police Station Leh.
The investigation team led by Deputy SP Headquarters Rigzin Sangdup then started making queries with the neighbours to find probable suspects. Upon investigation it came to fore that a person namely Rigzin Dawa (32) son of Morup Stanzin, resident of Sheynam age 32yrs is a notorious character residing nearby and so the police party went to check on his whereabouts. When the police party found him in his room, the suspicion got stronger as some blood stains were found on his leg and scratch marks on his neck and shoulder.
From the investigation so far, it was found that the victim was subjected to rape and physical assault and was killed by the accused by choking her throat. The accused came to the house of the victim at around 1:30 am, tried to rape the victim and beat her after she showed resistance and during the scuffle he mercilessly killed her. Important evidence like the undergarments of the accused was also recovered from the scene of crime and further evidences are to be sent to FSL for further investigation.
SSP Leh P D Nitya also visited the scene of crime and closely supervised the whole investigation.
