SRINAGAR, Sept 2: A non-local worker was fired upon by militants in Ugergund area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this morning.
He was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where his condition is stated to be stable.
He has been identified as Muneebul Rehman son of Abdul Kabo, resident of West Bengal.
Soon after the attack, the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, Police today arrested a hybrid militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba in Sopore area of Baramulla district.
Police said that today at about 21:15 hours, a joint naka was established by Sopore Police along with 22 RR and 179 BN of CRPF at Shangergund crossing in Sopore.
“During checking, at about 2140 hours suspicious movement of a person coming from village Check Brath link road towards Sopore-Kupwara general road was noticed and he was subsequently asked to stop, but he tried to flee from the spot. However, he was tactfully apprehended by the security forces,” police said.
The Police spokesman stated that upon his personal search, one pistol, one magazine and 8 pistol rounds were recovered from his possession.
During preliminary questioning, he revealed his identity as Saqib Shakeel Dar son of Shakeel Ahmad Dar resident of Mumkak Batpora.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested persons is working as hybrid militant of organization LeT and was in a constant search of an opportunity to carry out attacks on security forces and civilians.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Sopore and investigation taken up, read the statement.
