Ex-MLA, 2 Councillors among scores of leaders resign from Cong

JAMMU, Sept 3: A former MLA from Kalakote, two Municipal Committee Councillors from Hiranagar among scores of party functionaries today resigned from Congress Party, in support of former J&K Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Reports said that senior Congress leader and former MLA from Kalakote, Ashok Sharma today resigned from his present position and the primary membership of Congress Party. He will join Azad Camp during grand function being held on Sunday at Sainik Colony in Jammu with supporters.
Two Councillors of Congress Party from Hiranagar Municipal Committee, Rajiv Gupta (Son of Ex-MLC Subhash Gupta) and Parveena Devi besides Sarpanch Kotpunnu, Vinay Sharma also resigned from the Congress Party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Seven more Congress functionaries including former DCC Kathua vice president, Sat Paul Sharma and former general secretary DCC Kathua Kishore Kumar also resigned from the Party.
Meanwhile,53 functionaries of Marh and Satwari blocks of District Congress Committee Jammu- Rural today resigned from the party to join Azad camp. These
leaders and party activists under the leadership of former PCC general secretary and Ex-MLA Marh, Th Balwan Singh today forwarded their resignation to the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi and JKPCC president, Vikar Rasool Wani.
Prominent among them included-Block president Marh, Ashwani Sharma, Mandal president, Saudagar Singh Saini, BCC Marh general secretary-Darshan Lal Mottan. District vice president for Jmmu-R Dr Bansi Lal Choudhary, Raman Sharma-DCC Jammu Rural general secretary, Baljit Singh Manhas, former vice president PYC and others.
At least 25 Cong activists under the leadership of MK Bhat at Muthi in Jammu resigned from Congress party on the directions of Peerzada Mohd Sayeed to join Azad camp. Youth Congress leader Vishal Chopra along with his supporters also resigned from Congress Party today in support of Azad.
