JAMMU, Sept 29: Army and police today carried out searches in Khour area of Akhnoor following inputs received by a senior police officer on mobile about the movement of two suspects in Army fatigue along the Line of Control (LoC).
Following reports of sighting some suspects in Army fatigue, Police and Army launched a search operation in Khour area along the LoC, police sources told the EXCELSIOR.
In the morning at around 2 am, SHO Khour, Probationer DySP Rameez Rashid received information that two suspects in Army fatigue with weapons have been sighted near a temple in Khour, sources said.
Acting on the information, police swung into action and a team led by SHO Khour Probationer DySP Rameez Rashid under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohammad Rayees Bhat cordoned off the area and started search operation. The searching team also sighted some foot prints near the temple and school, they added.
SDPO Akhnoor also reached the spot and supervised the search and combing operations to rule out the possibility of presence of any miscreant or suspected individual in the area.
After thorough combing of the area, the police failed to spot any suspected men in the area, they added.
Later, Army also joined the operation and the fencing along the LoC was also checked but it was found intact. Today in the afternoon, the operation was called off.
It seems that the twin terror attacks in Hiranagar and Samba Army unit has created fear psychosis among the border residents, they added.
When contacted, SDPO Akhnoor Mohammad Rayees Bhat, told the EXCELSIOR that “We received information that two suspects in Army fatigue with weapons have been sighted near temple and school in Khour area. Acting on the information, police and Army cordoned off the area and started search operation”, he added.
He said that the search and combing operations were carried out till afternoon today, but no suspected men in the area were found.
Ruling out an infiltration attempt, SDPO said that police along with Army also checked the fencing along the LoC, but there was no break-up in the fencing and hence no infiltration had taken place.
