Srinagar, Sept 5: The JKPCC Workers Union today staged a protest against the non-payment of their salaries which has been lying pending for the last more than 4 months.
Several employees under the banner of the Union were seen protesting on the premises of the JKPCC office here where they were heard raising slogans in favor of their demands.
Masood Ahmad Mir, heading the protest said that they have been on a protest for the last more than 10 days and that the management of the JKPCC has not even bothered to reach out to them.
“Same sort of protest is going on in Jammu as well and this is a sheer violation of human rights as we now do not have money to feed our families; we are getting notices from schools but there is no one who could hear us out and address our issues,” he said.
He said that the delegation of the Union recently met the Chief Secretary in the public hearing who then directed the concerned officials to do the needful, but to no avail.
“We went to meet him 15 days ago. He listened to us and the concerned authorities were directed to take the necessary action, but nothing happened so far,” he said.
The protesting employees urged the Administration to resolve the matter of their pending salaries apart from addressing their other issues.
