UDHAMPUR, Sept 5: Seeking justice for Karan Singh Katoch from Upper Meer, who was found hanging under mysterious circumstances on June 27, 2022, the villagers from Panchari area protested and blocked the Udhampur- Panchari road, here today.

The protesting villagers, including family members of the deceased were demanding that the case in this regard be registered under Section 302 of IPC and culprits be arrested immediately. The protest and road blockade continued from 6:30 am to 2 pm
Demanding intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for directions to Police and immediate arrest of the accused persons, the protest people warned that if no action is taken against the culprits, the protests will be further intensified after three days.
It may be recalled that body of Karan Singh (20), son of Khajoor Singh, resident of Panchari was found hanging from a tree near Panchari in a forest area under mysterious circumstances on June 27. According to Khajoor Singh, father of the deceased, one SPO and his wife had visited their house on eve of the death of his son and threatened to kill Karan Singh, who went missing same evening and next day his body was found hanging from a tree.
This protest was held under the leadership of Sarpanch Panchari, Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch Upper Meer Naveena Devi and Sarpanch Kultyar Pawan Kumar.
Later, Tehsildar Panchari Vipan Kumar along with SHO Panchari, Rakesh Kumar Bhagat reached the spot and pacified the protester by assuring to reinvestigate the case.
