JAMMU, Sept 6: Shiv Sena J&K here today started awareness cum signature campaign in support of Statehood restoration to J&K and protection of rights of locals under Section 371.
The campaign was started from Dogra Chowk under the leadership of Manish Sahni, president Shiv Sena J&K.
Speaking on the occasion Sahni said that there was enthusiasm among the public regarding demand of Section 371 and at the same time there is lot of resentment regarding inclusion of non-locals in J&K electoral rolls.
He claimed that with a conspiracy to erase cultural identity of J&K, rights of outsiders on business and jobs in J&K are increasing.
“J&K is a border State battling militancy for the last 35 years. When 11 border States including those at Northeast can be given privileges under Section 371, then why J&K is treated step-motherly,” he maintained, adding that rising unemployment in J&K is a matter of great concern.
The Shiv Sena leader informed that the awareness-cum-signature campaign has started today in Jammu, Kupwara, Udhampur and Doda.
Shiv Sena women wing president, Meenakshi Chibber; chairman, Rakesh Gupta; vice president, Balwant Singh, Raj Singh and others were also present on the occasion.
